XTC
Upsy Daisy Assortment
Geffen

With its limited overall success and five year US absence, it seems like it would make much more sense for XTC to put together a new album rather than a so-called greatest hits package. Still, listening to its "upsy daisy assortment" is a welcome reminder that the band has slipped a substantial number of unusual tunes into the mainstream over its twenty year career. Gems like the beautifully dated "Generals & Majors," charming "Senses Working Overtime," working class lament "Earn Enough For Us," and the opus "Dear God" shine brillantly even though set beside unremarkable duds like the lackluster "Funk Pop On A Roll."
